MOVIES just wouldn’t be as inspiring or fun without their soundtracks that make us tap our feet, snap our fingers and hum along.
Here are the Best Original Score nominees at tonight’s Academy Awards.

Black Panther
The soundtrack of the American superhero movie was composed by Ludwig Goransson.
The 34-year-old Swedish composer, conductor and record producer is responsible for numerous other films’ soundtracks, including Venom, Creed, and the Rocky franchise.
His composing for Black Panther earned him both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe nomination.
After reading the film’s script, Göransson traveled to Africa to research traditional African music for the film.
He went on tour with Senegalese musician Baaba Maal, and recorded performances by Maal and other African musicians for use in the score.
BlackKklansman
The music in the iconic movie was created by Terence Blanchard, and American jazz musician and composer.
He supported the Ku Klux Klan crime drama with 23 original songs.
The soundtrack CD was released back on August 9, 2018, and has proven to be a real collection of hits.
Mary Poppins Returns
Mary Poppins did indeed return with a whole collection of supercalifragilistic songs.
The music and score for the film was composed by Marc Shaiman.
He previously wrote the music for the Broadway musical version of the film Hairspray, which had earned him five Academy Award nominations alongside a Grammy and Tony Award nomination.
The 9 songs he produced include musical references to the Sherman Brothers songs in the first film like A Spoonful of Sugar and Let’s Go Fly A Kite.
Isle of Dogs
The iconic Wes Anderson movies songs belonged to Alexandre Desplat.
The director and composer have had the pleasure of creating great art before in the movies Fantastic Mr. Fox, Moonrise Kingdom and The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Some songs in Isle of Dogs drew inspiration from Japanese cinema. For instance, Akira Kurosawa’s Drunken Angel and Seven Samurai.
The soundtrack consists of 22 tracks in total, 15 of which are masterpieces of Alexandre.
If Beale Street Could Talk
The romantic drama’s music was composed by Nicholas Britell.
The American composer was previously nominated for an Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Critics’ Choice Award for his work in Moonlight.
So, he is no stranger to Best Soundtrack nominations.
The 23-track-long soundtrack CD is set to be released on March 8, 2019.
