Westlife SMASH UK charts with Number 1 album, beating Celine Dion and Take That

Overseas and from coast to coast the lads are back on top. The Irish superstars have topped the UK charts with their comeback album Spectrum. They outsold Celine Dion’s comeback album Courage by more than three to one, while Take That have to settle for the fifth spot with their live tour album. The exited Shane, Nicky, Mark and Kian told Express Online about their joy and surprise after selling a whopping number of copies of their latest release.

When they heard the good news, Westlife told OfficialCharts.com: “Thank you so much to everyone in the UK who’s made Spectrum Number 1 this week!

We can’t believe that after 21 years we’ve got another Number 1 – our eighth Number 1 album.

The reunion has been going so well, thank you for everything.”

The news actually makes Westlife officially the biggest selling Irish band in the UK in the 21st century.

Recorded in Dublin, LA and London, Spectrum is the result of the band’s determination to enter a new phase in their careers and their music.

Westlife said: “We have all driven by trying to create the best album of our careers. We wanted to make something current, something that feels fresh.

The huge success of our comeback single ‘Hello My Love’ gave us the confidence that our fans and the public were completely up for a new album of original songs.

We’ve probably had more input into this album than any other in our careers. We have all driven by trying to create the best album of our careers. We wanted to make something current, something that feels fresh.”
