Western Stars: Bruce Springsteen performs with orchestra in exclusive clip from concert film

Bruce Springsteen‘s new film based around latest album Western Stars is on the cusp of release – and we’re happy to unveil an exclusive clip.

Co-directed by Springsteen and Thom Zimny, the film sees the Boss, fit with band and orchestra, perform all 13 songs from the record in between vignettes touching “on themes of love, loss, loneliness, family and the passage of time”.

The film – a must for any Springsteen fan – is notable for featuring never-before-seen archival footage of the musician on his honeymoon with wife and guitarist Patti Scialfa.

Speaking at a Q&A screening during the London Film Festival, Springsteen compared the filmmaking process with ”sequencing a record”, adding that “all good records and all good cinema has rhythm”.

He also confirmed he’ll go on tour next year, telling Edith Bowman: ”I got to go back to the day job, you know I’ve got to pay the bills.”

Springsteen is one of the favourites to play Glastonbury in 2020. Co-organiser Emily Eavis recently ruled out headline sets from Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin.

Western Stars is released in UK cinemas on 28 October.
