Good Morning Britain welcomed a number of guests onto the show this morning to discuss Prince Charles and the news that he has tested positive for the coronavirus. While Clarence House has announced the Prince of Wales is in good health, hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shepard have raised questions over their own health after they met the prince last month.
Speaking to Royal commentator Emily Andrews, Ben asked whether the prince will be contacting people has greeted in recent weeks.
Bringing the conversation to himself and his colleague, he added: “Kate and I actually met Prince Charles, of course, at the National Prince’s Trust Awards.”
Kate jumped in to clarify: “Yes, but we didn’t shake hands, Emily, but we were very close.”
Ben chimed in to say: “But will he contact people he touched and say, look, I have now tested positive?”
Thankfully, Emily responded to the presenter by quelling their fears.
She confirmed that, chances are, it is very unlikely that the pair were at risk of infection from the Prince of Wales.
Emily explained: “Charles, like the Queen, has a doctor on standby at all times.
“And his doctor ascertained from talking to Prince Charles, he thinks he wasn’t infected pre March 13.”
Chuckling at the situation, Emily added: “So, you guys are in the clear!”
Kate then questioned the royal expert about whether the Queen would have been put at risk by Prince Charles.
To which Emily confirmed: “Conveniently, Charles’ doctors said anybody who he met before March 13 is clear – which includes the Queen.”
Later in the interview, Emily confirmed the Prince was in relatively good health – despite the circumstances.
She explained: “Well, it’s good news, I guess, from Clarence House.
“They say that Prince Charles is suffering just mild symptoms.”
