Voice of the Sunday Mirror: We depend on Labour for a fit future

We welcome the prospect of Theresa May’s days in power coming to a close.

And also the findings of our ComRes poll today which shows that voters would now prefer Jeremy Corbyn in No10 to her.

But before any of that happens both Labour and the Tories will get a pasting in Thursday’s ridiculous £109million European election.

Mrs May faces the greater humiliation.

Our survey shows she is likely to lose nearly two thirds of her MEPs.

She is being ripped apart by Nigel Farage and his one-policy Brexit Party – to leave the EU with No Deal – which would be a disaster.

Farage is promising to deliver Brexit for Brexit voters

Voters are understandably frustrated with Mrs May’s cackhanded Brexit negotiation and the refusal of MPs to navigate a way forward.

The Tories can change their leader but that will not alter the Parliamentary arithmetic.

Only compromise and common sense can do that. Once Brexit is sorted we can concentrate on building a country fit for the future.

A Britain where jobs are secure, the NHS is fully funded, schools have what they need to educate our children, and there are enough affordable homes to go around.

And we believe only Labour can deliver that.
