Voice of the Mirror: Boris allies risk endangering ordinary people over 999 call

Calling police when a distressed woman is heard screaming is what good neighbours do and Boris Johnson’s contemptible allies had best remember that.

They risk endangering ordinary people by insisting 999 should not have been dialled.

Not that that would worry some of them.

And it is laughable to pretend a loud domestic dispute involving one of their own, who wishes to be Prime Minister, isn’t a matter of public interest, and details should be kept secret.

Instead of targeting Johnson’s innocent – and responsible – neighbours they should persuade their untrustworthy idol to explain exactly what happened in that flat.

Opinion polls showing falls in support for Johnson and the Tories is a just verdict on a man evading scrutiny and accountability.

Johnson is tripping over his own hooves in what started as a one-horse race. But there is more at stake here than the political fate of this shambolic chancer. Don’t ignore screams and the sound of crashing if you think someone might be at risk. Always ring the police.

Chat’s the Way

Britain Talks is a better way forward than Britain Fighting after three years of divisive rows since the EU referendum.

This is about understanding other’s opin- ions, recognising we might hold different views but we all want what’s best for the country.

Britain Talks is an answer to extremists and cynics forever trying to drive poisonous wedges into communities, creating phony culture wars to spread hate, not hope.

Paw judgment

Sitting her pooch on a train seat will strike many as selfishly barking.
