The majority of the outage reports appear to be coming from the south of the UK including London, Portsmouth and Bournemouth.

Some users say they’re having trouble connecting to their internet, although Virgin Media has told The Sun their broadband services are working as normal.

Frustrated customers have since taken to Twitter to vent their fury of their lack of connectivity.

Tweeting a picture of the blurry rugby match on their TV, one user said: “So much for chilling this Sunday.”

While someone else said: “I can’t watch the rugby. Why is this happening?”

Another customer said: “My TV is pixelating badly on all channels.

“Have checked 0800 number previously suggested and told no issues in my area but judging from other tweets today there obviously is.”

Someone else posted: “Live in South-East TV down. As others have said right in the middle of the Rugby. Unhappy household.

“Internet and landline phone also appear down.”

Another user said: “What’s going on? My TV and internet are down. You won’t even answer on 150 to get status update just says we are busy?”

The service provider has also yet to say what is causing the outage.

Meanwhile, the service update page on the Virgin Media website is currently down “for essential changes”.

A message on the page reads: “We’re doing some work on My Virgin Media at the moment as part of an upgrade to provide you with an even better service.

“We’re sorry this part of the site isn’t available at the moment. Everything will be back to normal again soon, so please come back and try again shortly.”

A Virgin Media spokesperson said: “We’re aware of an issue affecting broadcast TV services for some customers in Basildon, Croydon, Cosham, Pool and Southampton. Broadband services are unaffected.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused and our teams are working promptly to resolve the problem.”

It’s not just Virgin Media customers who have been struggling with connectivity issues lately.

Last week saw Co-op Banking customers locked out of their accounts following an outage.

TSB’s website also went down on the same day leaving customers locked out of accounts.

It came just days after Nationwide suffered a payment glitch, causing some customers to be without money to pay bills and rent.
