And Gomez hasn’t looked back since, pairing alongside Van Dijk in 13 of the last 14 Premier League games.
In that time, Liverpool kept 10 clean sheets and conceded just four goals as they continued their dominance at the top of the table.
They need just six points to clinch the title, but it remains uncertain when the season will start back up again due to the coronavirus pandemic.
It has been suggested games could restart in June with the remaining matches being played in a condensed fixture list over four to six weeks.
