One dedicated viewer has trawled through each episode of Vikings in order to analyse just how well the show lines up with what history tells us actually happened.
According to this fan, there are some glaring errors in the season one episode All Change, in which Ragnar and a small party of Vikings head to Gotaland to settle a land dispute with Jarl Borg (Thorbjørn Harr).
As well as offering an early glimpse at what would eventually become modern day Sweden, it also makes a startling claim regarding just how advanced Viking society was.
During their negotiations, Borg proposes to Ragnar that, in order to guarantee peace in the realm, the two leaders can share mineral rights over Ragnar’s land.
