MPs tonight voted in favour of a pre-Christmas general election on December 12.
Boris Johnson‘s Early Parliamentary General Election Bill won a landslide victory with 438 votes to 20, a majority of 418.
The Prime Minister is looking to secure a majority in the House of Commons to push his Brexit deal through.
Mr Johnson told reporters after the vote that it’s time for the country to “come together to get Brexit done”.
While Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said: “This election is a once-in-a-generation chance to transform our country and take on the vested interests holding people back.”
The result was announced in the chamber and the division list contained the names of 438 MPs in the ayes.
