TWO in three Brits want the BBC licence fee scrapped or substantially reformed, a major survey has found.
Half think the country is too dependent on the Beeb as a source of news and agree it needs an overhaul.
ITV is the most trustworthy, the survey shows. Nearly three in four people trust it to a great extent or to some extent.
TV is still the most popular news source overall — but there are huge variations by age.
Savanta Comres boss Andrew Hawkin said the findings showed how much broadcasting was set to change.
He added: “Somehow the broadcasters and regulators will need to find a way of enabling the sector to evolve while maintaining trust in the integrity of news delivery.”
The BBC said: “Research has shown the BBC is seen as the most trusted, accurate and impartial source of news.”
“This poll appears to ask people questions without any context.”
