Transformation time! EastEnders actor Jack Ryder looks UNRECOGNISABLE in new pics

Jack Ryder burst onto our screens in 1998 playing Jamie Mitchell in EastEnders

The actor quickly because the square’s heart-throb thanks to his nineties boyband curtain hairstyle, signature hoop earring and angelic face.

The actor had a turbulent time on the soap, with his main storyline centred around his on-and-off relationship with Sonia Flower, played by Natalie Cassidy.

His role came to an end in 2002 when Jamie was killed off by his love rival Martin Fowler in a dramatic finale aired on Christmas Day.

15 years on, and the actor looks dramatically different to his Jamie Mitchell days.

Jack Ryder has gone through many transformations during his career.

It was only a few years ago the 37-year old rocked a bald head, which caused a stir among his fans.

He’s back on our screens with a completely new look, heading to another soap this time, Holby City.

Simon Harper, Executive Producer of Holby City and Casualty, spoke to The Mirror about Jack’s new role.

He said: “We’ve been talking to Jack for a while to find the right part for him on Holby and his powerful, nuanced audition for Evan blew us away.

“He’s both a household name and a superb actor, and fans who remember him as Jamie in EastEnders are in for a big treat and quite a surprise seeing him in this very different role.

“Evan is a complex, alpha surgeon who makes some major waves in Holby.”
