Manchester United will not succeed in landing Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly in the summer transfer market.

Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti is determined to keep his top men in Naples for next season.

“With targeted investments we can grow and win things with young players, providing we find guys like Meret and Fabian Ruiz.”

11:22 UPDATE: Solskjaer timing crucial

The timing of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s contract announcement could be crucial to Manchester United’s transfer plans.

Solskjaer pledging to remain at Old Trafford for the next three years will likely fuel confidence from the squad in the stability of United.

And that could lead to David De Gea signing a new contract, while Paul Pogba’s supposed push to Real Madrid may come to nothing.

Solskjaer himself is now preparing for the season run-in, while keeping one eye on the summer transfer plans.

Barcelona will have a rival in their chase to sign Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt, with Bayern Munich now keen.

ESPN claim Bayern already to pounce on Jovic following his stunning season in the Bundesliga.

Aaron Ramsey’s free transfer from Arsenal to Juve is a steal for the Serie A giants.

That is the view of ex-Milan and Italy star Franco Baresi.

“I think Juve has really landed a great coup there and I’m sure he’ll be able to adapt to Italian football.”

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has commented on the permanent appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager.

“Since coming in as caretaker manager in December, the results Ole has delivered speak for themselves,” he said.

“This all means that he is the right person to take Manchester United forward.

“I want to thank Ole and the coaching team for everything they have done so far and congratulate him on this richly deserved appointment.

“The fans and everyone at the club are behind him as he looks to take us where we need to be and build the next stage of our history.”

Harry Kane insists he is not interested in leaving Tottenham right now.

“I’ve always said as long as the club is moving in the right direction and showing the right ambition, I want to be part of the journey,” he told ESPN.

“It’s something you assess along the way. A lot of people look at it and say this is maybe the best team we’ve had, maybe the best team we’ll ever have and the best manager, but it’s important that we have something to show for it.

“It’s not just when we look back in 10 years, we had a great team. It’s, ‘Look what they did. Look what they won.’

“The challenge for us is, can we keep going up and up and up? It’s going to be difficult in the next couple of years with the stadium and the finances.”

Liverpool have also been linked but United have now emerged as suitors of the England international.

Chelsea may opt to keep Hudson-Odoi as they cannot sign replacements under their FIFA-imposed transfer ban.

07:24 UPDATE: Pogba to Real Madrid latest

Paul Pogba said last week it has been his “dream” to play for Real Madrid.

And former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol is not impressed with the Manchester United midfielder.

“This scrambles my brain, seriously it does,” Nicol told ESPN. “How the rhetoric today is that if the player and the agent want to go, then they’re going to be going. That kills me.

“We’re saying two opposite things here. We’re saying that if Pogba wants to go he’ll be able to go, but if Bale doesn’t want to go then Bale won’t go.

“The clubs have got absolutely no chance. What’s going on here? This is absolutely ridiculous.”
