10.30pm UPDATE: Man Utd transfer plans

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to sign at least one top class centre-back and a midfielder this summer.

According to the Evening Standard, United are facing the prospect of losing key players like Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku but regardless of those players’ future Solskjaer desperately needs someone for defence and midfield.

United’s top target for the backline is Harry Maguire despite Leicester turning down an offer of £70million and insisting on their £90m valuation.

As for midfield, the Red Devils are still keeping tabs on Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes as well as Newcastle ace Sean Longstaff and Everton’s Idrissa Gueye.

Reports also suggested that Manchester United are also eyeing Chelsea star Tiemoue Bakayoko and Southampton’s Mario Lemina but senior sources within the club dismissed those talks.

10pm UPDATE: Chris Wilder extends Sheffield United contract

Chris Wilder has agreed a new three-year contract with Sheffield United.

Chief executive officer, Stephen Bettis, said: “On behalf of the board, I’m delighted that the formalities have been concluded and Chris has been rewarded.

“Chris signing a new contract underpins everything we are attempting to do at Bramall Lane.

“He’s been the catalyst for our success over the past few years, he is a driven individual and his focus since promotion was secured has been preparing the club for the Premier League.”

9.30pm UPDATE: Wilfried Zaha won’t join Arsenal

Wilfried Zaha will not end up at Arsenal, according to Paul Mariner.

“Never, it’s never going to happen,” Mariner said.

“The reason for that is Crystal Palace can dig their heels in because of his contract.

“They’re quite right to ask for this type of money. Do I think he’s worth it? Absolutely not.

“Would he fit into this Arsenal side? I’m not quite sure.

“I think there’s inconsistencies with a player that’s going to be costing something like £80m.

“Arsenal don’t seem to have that type of money to bring him in, hence them looking at other players in those areas. No, not for me.”

9pm UPDATE: Kieran Tierney to Arsenal update

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has given an update on Kieran Tierney’s possible move to Arsenal.

“I have taken no notice of the headlines,” he said. “I am well aware of where we are in terms of the situation.

“I spoke to Kieran in Austria and to be honest I haven’t really seen much of him because he came back early for rehab, so has not been on the training ground as yet.

“It can be an unsettling period for any player and that is understandable but until a club comes up with any sort of realistic valuation of the player we don’t have to do anything and we won’t.

“It’s as you were. Kieran is getting on with his rehabilitation and we are getting on with what we have to do here.”

8.30pm UPDATE: Maxi Gomez to West Ham off

West Ham turned to Maxi Gomez after being forced to sell wantaway striker Marko Arnautovic to Shanghai SIPG.

But despite offering to pay his full release clause and double the salary on offer to him in Valencia, they have lost the race to sign him.

Gomez verbally agreed terms with Valencia, who can offer him Champions League football, weeks ago.

And Celta then agreed a £14.5m deal which would land them striker Santi Mina and defender Jorge Saenz from Valencia as makeweights.

But West Ham looked set to hijack the transfer after turning the player’s head with a last-ditch big-money offer on Friday night.

The Hammers were so confident the 22-year-old would choose them that they even had a medical provisionally booked in for him.

But West Ham wanted to pay his release clause in instalments while Celta wanted it all paid up front.

7.45pm UPDATE: Man Utd sent Sergej Milinkovic-Savic demand

Manchester United will reportedly have to part with £90million if they want to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio this summer.

United have been linked with the box-to-box midfielder this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to overhaul his squad.

The Red Devils have made two signings, bringing Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Old Trafford.

Juventus are also believed to be keen on Milinkovic-Savic, with reports suggesting the midfielder can leave the Serie A club.

However CalcioMercato claim it will take €100m (£90m) for Lazio to let go of the Serbian.

7.15pm UPDATE: Arsenal to seal William Saliba transfer

Arsenal are set to complete the signing of William Saliba but the fee reportedly won’t eat into Unai Emery’s transfer budget.

Arsenal are believed to be close to sealing a deal for defender Saliba.

The centre-back will join from Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne but it’s believed he will return to the club on loan.

It comes with Emery given a reported £45million budget for this summer’s transfer window.

The manager was restricted to making loan signings in January with Arsenal trying to limit their spending.

But BBC report that Arsenal will pay for Saliba in instalments.

6.45pm UPDATE: Divock Origi to sign new deal

Liverpool are reportedly optimistic that Divock Origi will accept a new contract offer this summer.

Origi has a year remaining on his current deal but Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to keep the Belgian at Anfield.

The striker scored some crucial goals for Liverpool last season, including a fine effort as the Reds beat Tottenham in the Champions League final.

Origi was not Klopp’s first choice in Liverpool’s attack though with Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane all favoured ahead of the 24-year-old.

That led to fears that Origi could opt for a move away from Merseyside this summer.

6.15pm UPDATE: Dani Ceballos to Tottenham latest

Tottenham have been linked with a mega money deal for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, but it appears the player is more keen on a loan deal instead of a permanent transfer. Mauricio Pochettino is unlikely to sanction that, however.

Tottenham have been trying to sign Real Madrid youngster Dani Ceballos since the start of the summer’s transfer window.

The Spaniard played a key role for Los Blancos last season, as well as starring in the Under-21 European Championship for Spain Under-21s.

Ceballos is reportedly keen on a move to North London this summer, but he’s still clinging onto hope that he’ll become part of Zinedine Zidane’s long-term plan at the Santiago Bernabeu.

With that in mind, he’s leaning toward agreeing a loan deal with Spurs for the upcoming season, but Pochettino won’t be agreeing to it.

The Tottenham boss doesn’t want to bring in Ceballos on loan, only to block the progress of someone else in his squad.
