8am UPDATE: Liverpool told to sign Wilfried Zaha

Liverpool should make a move for Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha this summer with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp ideal to manage the winger, says John Aldridge.

“Maybe they [Liverpool] should look into the possibility of recruiting Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace, who is rumoured to have made it clear he wants to move on to play Champions League football,” Aldridge wrote for The Sunday World.

“Zaha has given Liverpool some real problems in the last couple of years and Klopp’s ability to turn talents of his type into consistent performers has to make him the kind of player who could thrive at Anfield.”

Zaha scored 10 Premier League goals for Crystal Palace during the most recent season.

7.40am UPDATE: Ed Woodward unhappy with Paul Pogba

Manchester United chief Ed Woodward is unhappy at Paul Pogba for comments hinting at a transfer away, reports say.

Manchester United star Pogba is attracting interest from Real Madrid and Juventus after a testing campaign at Old Trafford.

On Friday, Pogba sent shockwaves around the club when he hinted he wanted to leave, saying: “Like you said, there is a lot of talking and a lot of thinking as well.

“For me I have been for three years in Manchester and have been doing great; some good moments and some bad moments, like everybody. Like everywhere else.

“After this season and everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season as well… I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.

“I am thinking of this: to have a new challenge somewhere else.”

And the Daily Mail say Woodward and other members of the United hierarchy have been distinctly unimpressed by the 26-year-old’s comments.

A source is quoted as saying: “It is safe to say that they are distinctly unimpressed with it.

“But as far as they’re concerned Pogba will be at the club next season.”

6.45am UPDATE: Frank Lampard backed to succeed at Chelsea

Frank Lampard will give young players a chance at Chelsea and stamp his authority on the club, according to Harry Redknapp.

“He will have real authority, he won’t stand any nonsense,” Redknapp told The Sun.

“Eden Hazard has left and he is a fantastic player.

“No disrespect to any of the rest of them who are left, but none of them can look at Frank and think ‘I’m a bigger, better player’.

“He’s been a better player for Chelsea than any of them have been.

“That’s not a bad starting point for him. There won’t be anyone there he can’t handle.

“It could be a fresh new Chelsea. We could see some real young stars emerging.”

6.15am UPDATE: Arsenal told to spend

Arsenal boss Unai Emery needs to be given a higher transfer budget if he is to succeed in the Premier League next season, Robert Pires claims.

Emery is believed to have a transfer budget of just £40million this summer.

The Spaniard has acknowledged his need to spend, and Pires believes extra funds is the only chance Emery has.

“I read that Arsenal have a small envelope for transfers, only £40m,” Pires said.

“My opinion is that it isn’t enough. If you want to build a good team, you need to spend a lot of money, especially in the Premier League.

“I respect Arsenal’s position and the owner, but everybody knows that if you want to win the Premier League, you need to spend a lot of money.

“All the top clubs want to sign great players, but if you want a great player it costs a lot of money.”

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eyeing three transfers this summer.

The Red Devils have already signed winger Daniel James from Swansea as Solskjaer looks to revamp his Manchester United side.

The United boss is looking to sign young British players to bolster his starting line-up.

And according to The Daily Telegraph, the Red Devils want two midfielders and a centre-back.

They say United boss Solskjaer is already in the market for two midfielders, however, they may need to add another to that list if Paul Pogba leaves Old Trafford.
