Trailer debuts for R-rated Mortal Kombat animated movie – Video Games Chronicle

A trailer has been released for Warner Bros. Animation’s R-rated Mortal Kombat movie.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge will release digitally and on Blu-Ray / DVD in Spring 2020.

The feature-length film sees the champions of Outworld and Earthrealm battle to the death in a tournament that will determine the fate of Earth.

Game creator NetherRealm Studios is involved in the production and its voice cast includes several familiar actors, such as Patrick Seitz as Scorpion, David B. Mitchell as Raiden and Ike Amadi as Jax Briggs, who all featured in the game series.

Behind the scenes, IGN reports that the filmmaking team includes several DC Universe Original Movie creatives, including Batman: Assault on Arkham’s Ethan Spaulding as director, and Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans’ Jeremy Adams as screenwriter.

Warner Bros. also plans to release a new Mortal Kombat live action movie in March 2021.

The most recent game series entry, NetherRealm’s Mortal Kombat 11, released in April 2019 and was the fifth best-selling game in the US last year.

VGC’s Mortal Kombat 11 review said the title’s “close to being the best all-round fighting game package but falls just short due to an aggressive need for currency grinding to unlock content.”
