Tottenham fans in meltdown as Heung-Min Son injury blow confirmed – ‘Bye bye season'

Tottenham forward Heung-Min Son has been ruled out for a number of weeks with a fractured arm. The Spurs hero sustained the injury in the early stages of Sunday’s Premier League victory at Aston Villa.

Son played through the pain barrier to score twice, including a last-gasp winner, after requiring treatment in the first half and at the break.

He is now set for an extended spell on the sidelines during a critical phase of the season as the Champions League returns.

A statement from Tottenham read: “Heung-Min Son is to undergo surgery this week after sustaining a fracture to his right arm.

“The South Korea international suffered the injury during our win against Aston Villa on Sunday.

“Following surgery, our medical staff shall be reviewing management options for Son’s rehabilitation with the player expected to be sidelined for a number of weeks.”

Tottenham fans were left in despair with their attacking options further reduced amid Harry Kane’s long-term absence.

“It just gets worse and worse,” wrote one supporter on Twitter.

“Bye bye season,” a second moaned.

While a third said: “Well s***.”

A fourth complained: “Just our luck really.”

And another wrote: “Biggest couple of weeks as well ffs.”

The news of Son’s injury has come at the worst possible time ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League last-16 first leg against RB Leipzig.

Tottenham are also chasing down a Champions League qualification spot and face top-four rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Jose Mourinho will, no doubt, be gutted by the prospect of being without Son and Kane for those games.

The fixture list does not let up for Spurs with a Premier League clash against top-four hopefuls Wolves, an FA Cup fifth-round tie against Norwich City and the reverse leg against Leipzig all coming up in the next three weeks.

Son has provided 16 goals and nine assists in all competitions for Tottenham since the start of the season.
