Tory James Cleverly accused of 'crashing into car while talking on phone' on M11

Tory chairman James Cleverly has become embroiled in an online row with a motorist over a car accident.

The MP was involved in a “minor accident” on the M11 motorway near his Braintree constituency in Essex on Friday evening.

But a Twitter user claiming to be the other driver – named Asim Khan – accused Cleverly of being “dishonest” and a “liar”.

In a series of tweets, the Twitter user claimed Mr Cleverly had been speeding and using his phone at the time of the crash.

A party source denied both claims.
