Today’s back pages: Man City’s Captain Marvel is simply Vincredible

When Manchester City needed someone to step up and break the deadlock against Leicester last night it was skipper Vincent Kompany who responded.

The Belgian defender, 33, scored a wonder goal at the Etihad to put City back on top of the Premier League table with just one match remaining.

Should City win against Brighton on Sunday they will retain their crown with Liverpool missing out.

“Cometh the hour, Kometh the man,” says the Manchester Evening News in tribute to the City legend’s winning goal against the Foxes.

The Manchester newspaper leads with the headline “Vincredible”, and the Daily Mail uses a similar pun with “One more Vin”.

The Daily Telegraph and The Guardian hail Kompany as City’s “Captain Fantastic” and “Captain Marvel” respectively while The Times and the Daily Express call the defender’s goal a “bolt from the blue”.

Celebration time in Norwich

In Norfolk Norwich City celebrated their Championship title win by having an open-top bus parade.

The Norwich Evening News and Eastern Daily Press both printed souvenir editions today to salute the Canaries’ promotion to the Premier League.
