Three-O-Walcott: 'Peep Show' fans celebrate on social media as football star turns 30

Jez finally gets his millions

Today is Everton striker Theo Walcott’s 30th birthday – and the occasion has given Peep Show fans reason to celebrate.

Walcott turning thirty references an episode in the show where the character Jez, going through another existential crisis, burns all his old band memorabilia before explaining how he has a financial plan to survive the future.

“It’s cool. I’ve always got the Three-O Walcott millions”, Jez says, revealing that he is planning to sell the headline to a tabloid newspaper when the footballer turned 30.

Explaining the story to his girlfriend Dobby, Mark says: “Jeremy’s planning to sell the headline ‘Three-O Walcott’ to a tabloid newspaper when Theo Walcott turns 30, and we’ve agreed not to argue over whether that’s a good plan or not.” You can watch the clip here:

The occasion was recognised on social media by Everton Football Club, Robert Webb and fans of Peep Show – including one who took out a billboard to mark the occasion. You can see some of the reaction below:

Back in 2017, Peep Show stars Robert Webb and David Mitchell revealed that the cult sitcom could return in 10 years time to catch up with Jez and Mark at a later stage in their lives.

The comedy duo have reunited with Peep Show writer Simon Blackwell for new sitcom Back, which sees Mitchell star as Stephen, who is forced to take over his father’s pub when he dies.

Speaking to NME, Mitchell said: “When it ended, Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong and Rob (Webb) and I agreed that we would be up for doing a return to those characters in 10 or more years time.

“I think it would be a different show. I think we would give it a different name but I’d certainly love to work with Sam and Jesse again and I think they would be interested to write those characters again but basically at the other end of their lives when they’re 50 odd or even older,” he added.
