‘This was a whole new level of yawn’: Fans slam MasterChef as one of the most boring episodes ever… as the program continues to struggle in the ratings

Network Ten’s MasterChef was well and truly off the boil on Tuesday night, according to some fans of the long-running cooking show.

Wanna-be chefs Abbey, Simon, Derek, Nicole and Anuskha took part in an immunity challenge with was decidedly underwhelming for viewers.

Fans swarmed Twitter to express their disappointment with the episode, with one candidly tweeting: ‘Let’s call it. This episode has been a complete waste of f***ing time.’

Others struggled to stay awake, with one viewer commenting: ‘If anyone suffers from insomnia, watching this episode is the perfect cure.’

‘I often find the immunity challenges boring but this was a whole new level of yawn,’ tweeted another.

Perhaps the most succinct criticism was: ‘This eposode [sic] was entirely too long.’

During Tuesday night’s episode, the budding chefs were tasked with cooking a dish with ginger as the main ingredient.

While most of the remaining MasterChef contestants fared well with their dishes, the worst criticism Abbey, 28, and Nicole, 24, received was, ‘A missed opportunity’, and, ‘It just wasn’t your day.’

MasterChef has been struggling in the ratings and Tuesday night’s episode is unlikely to provide the bounce it so desperately needs.

The ABC’s TV series Anh’s Brush With Fame beat reality TV shows on commercial networks in the metropolitan ratings last Wednesday night.

According to OzTAM metro figures, the public broadcaster’s popular series pulled in 682,000 viewers, outshining MasterChef (648,000).
