This is how 'Avengers: Endgame' fans think Ant-Man will kill Thanos

It’s both a hilarious and pretty outlandish theory

Avengers: Endgame is almost upon us and fans think they’ve figured how Marvel‘s superheroes will defeat the Mad Titan, Thanos.

The sequel to 2018’s box office-smash Avengers: Infinity War is set to arrive in UK cinemas in April and will bring about the end of the franchise’s Phase Three. It will see the remaining Avengers, who weren’t turned to dust by Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet, go to war with the intergalactic tyrant in what is sure to be the biggest showdown of the MCU to date.

While no official word has been shared on how, or if, the Avengers will defeat Thanos, fans of the franchise think they might have worked it out. In what started off as a Reddit joke two years ago has now become a theory many fans believe could be true.

The theory is that Ant-Man (played by Paul Rudd) will defeat Thanos by crawling up his anus and expanding inside of him.

The origins of this outlandish theory date back to before Avengers: Infinity War was released, according to Know Your Meme. It started when Reddit users began to brainstorm some of the worst ways to stop Thanos, which included Thanos dying of natural causes.

One theory stated that Hulk would borrow Ant-Man’s suit, shrink down in size, crawl into Thanos’s mouth, and journey into his digestive system, before taking him down from within.

“As soon as the Hulk makes it to the urethra he turns his suit off,” wrote Reddit user sodabased. “Thanos’s manhood explodes as a blood-covered Hulk emerges from the bloody mess. Thanos falls down unconscious and slowly bleeds to death. The camera tightens on Spiderman who looks at Doctor Strange, ‘Well let that be a lesson for ya Doc! Hulk smash Kidney Stones!’ The camera then pans to each and every one of the heroes who have survived the war as they do a good guffaw.”

After becoming a top-rated reply in the thread, some fans suggested that Ant-Man could, and should, just do it himself.

Fast forward to 2018, after the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp, one fan tweeted: “marvel saw the post about how ant man could defeat thanos by crawling into his ass and instantly growing in size and that’s why they didn’t put him in the movie, send tweet.”

After garnering more than 11,000 retweets and 30,000 likes, as well as Paul Rudd addressing it himself, last year’s tweet and its theory went viral with many believing it could actually be viable.

A recent resurgence of the theory was helped on by a recent Reddit discussion, which saw a comment in a new Avengers: Endgame trailer thread earn more than 15,000 up votes.

MCU fans continue to share the theory.

In other news, Stan Lee will make a posthumous cameo in the forthcoming Avengers: Endgame movie, the boss of Marvel Studios has revealed.

Feige said that that the late co-creator of the Marvel Comics franchise’s cameo in the movie will not be his final appearance. He confirmed Lee will make one of his last appearances in another Marvel film.
