This epic Netflix musical stars mega names like Ariana Grande, Meryl Streep and James Corden



Prepare to get a piece of the West End from the comfort of your bed with Netflix‘s brand new musical, The Prom. The film adaptation based on the Tony-nominated stage musical will be produced and director by Ryan Murphy so it’s guaranteed to be a goodie.

True to his style, Murphy has secured an unbelievable cast of Hollywood A-listers including Meryl Streep, James Corden, Nicole Kidman, Ariana Grande and Awkwafina.

Streep and Corden will star as Dee Dee Allen and Barry Glickman, two washed up Broadway stars who receive career-ending reviews over their failed musical about Eleonor Roosevelt. In attempt to revive their image, the duo get involved in LGBTQ rights via a high school student whose forbidden from taking her girlfriend to prom. To help fight the injustice, a group of Broadway eccentrics descend upon small town Indiana.

Ariana will star as Alyssa, a popular daughter of the head of the PTA, while Awkwafina promises to bring the comedy as the group’s publicist, Ms. Sheldon. With its themes of inclusion, this film couldn’t be coming at a better time.

If you thought it couldn’t get any better, Ariana will be producing the soundtrack alongside Murphy and her manager, Scooter Braun. Oh yes, prepare yourselves for some serious bangers.

The Prom is the fourth series Murphy is producing for Netflix as part of a five-year $300 million deal. The Politician, Ratched and Hollywood have all been confirmed with two more documentaries and a stage adaptation expected to be announced shortly.

Filming is expected to commence this December so keep your eyes peeled for a trailer early next year. With a predicted Autumn release date, it looks like The Prom may be a strong contender for awards season.
