Third Chuckle Brother Jimmy Patton dies aged 87 a year after Barry

Jimmy Patton has died a year after his younger brother Barry Chuckle passed away.

The comedian was also a regular on their hit BBC show the Chuckle Brothers and passed away this week.

Facebook post on the official Chuckle Brothers page confirmed the sad news.

The statement reads: “I just thought I’d let you know that the Chuckle Brothers older Brother Jimmy Patton has sadly passed away.

“Jimmy was a big part of chucklevision and the stage shows where he played the character No Slacking. RIP Jim Lad. And No Slacking.”

Jimmy was devastated when Barry died last year of bone cancer.

At the time he said: “We are all devastated. Barry had bone cancer which had spread to his lungs.”

“He was ill for years, but kept it hidden. We knew about it, but kept it quiet, and all the family are really hurting right now.”

The tragedy is the latest to hit Paul Chuckle after 73-year-old Barry passed away after a secret bone cancer battle which had spread to his lungs in August last year.

Veteran entertainer Barry starred alongside Paul as one-half of the Chuckle Brothers in the BBC comedy show ChuckleVision, which ran for 21 series from 1987 to 2009. Jimmy’s catchphrase on the show was: “Remember — no slacking”, while Brian was known for his cry: “Geroutofit.”

As a teenager, Jimmy would perform with fourth brother Brian in theatres as the Patton Brothers. This later became the inspiration for the Chuckle Brothers duo.

Jimmy’s first wife Valerie died nine years ago but he found love again with Chucklevision fan Amy Phillips after meeting her on Facebook.

Jimmy was last seen at his brother’s funeral being helped by his 27-year-old wife Amy.
