These are the sustainable trainers you're seeing all over Instagram right now

So you’ve swapped your plastic bottles for a reusable one, your shopping habit for a upcycling one and your water-draining denim for a more environmentally-friendly pair, but is anyone else struggling in the shoe department?

Footwear seems to be frequently neglected in the conversation about sustainability and ethical fashion, with viable leather alternatives still a rarity.

One brand combatting this is the aptly named label Good News, who have just launched on Dover Street Market.

Made from sustainable materials including recycled rubber soles, organic cotton uppers and straw, as well as recycled eco-lite footbeds, they are made with total longevity and recyclability in mind.

Good News donate all deadstock and faulty shoes to the homeless and refugees, and even ensure that their shoe boxes are made from 100% recycled cardboard.

The even better news? They look good. When you hear of a recyclable shoe, you probably picture brown, cardboard kicks with a trio of green arrows in a cyclical triangular formation.

Thankfully, these look nothing like that. Offering up a smorgasbord of punchy hues, high tops and low, striped options or plain, there’s an abundance of options for all tastes and all #lewks.

Unsurprisingly, they’re already proving popular and have been spotted on our Instagram feed a lot over the last few weeks.

Chic and *actually* sustainable? Good News, indeed. We’ll see you at the checkout.
