The Witches actor Vincent Marzello has died at the age of 68, it has been confirmed.
The actor’s wife, Lorelei King, confirmed the sad news that the actor died on Tuesday (31 March).
King tweeted: ‘The love of my life, my darling husband Vincent Marzello, died this morning.
‘To those who knew him, I am sorry to post the news rather than contact you personally, but I am overwhelmed.
‘My heart is broken.’
A cause of death was not given however, King previously revealed Vincent had been diagnosed with dementia and cancer.
Speaking to Dementia UK in February, the Notting Hill actress explained: ‘Thinking that the person I loved most in the world might be in pain with no way to relieve it, or that he might not be getting essential medication, took a toll on me emotionally; I felt so helpless.’
She also revealed of his diagnosis: ‘During his cancer treatment, medical professionals were finally observing him very closely and it was clear to them that there was something wrong.
‘”How long has he had dementia?”, they asked – the first time anyone had said that to me – and, as horrifying as it was to hear, it brought a kind of relief, because we had finally named it.’
King revealed: ‘We postponed formal diagnosis, because first we had to put out the fire that was right in front of us: the cancer. This involved surgery, a catastrophic complication, more surgeries, months of chemotherapy – a process difficult enough to go through, made even more difficult by the dementia.’
Vincent was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York but lived in London with King, which is where he is believed to have died.
Since the 70s, he garnered roles in a number of TV series and movies, including James Bond’s The Spy Who Loved Me, Superman (1978), The Witches in which he played Luke’s Father, and in recent years, Bob The Builder and 2017’s The Magical Music Box.
