The Pussycat Dolls reunion is looking more likely as Ashley Roberts sends out the ‘positive vibes’: Nicole Scherzinger we’re looking at you

The Pussycat Dolls were one of the most important pop moments of the noughties.

‘Don’t ‘Cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me?’ It didn’t immediately seem like the right start to win over a female fanbase but actually the troupe – consisting of Nicole Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts, Melody Thornton, Kimberly Wyatt, Carmit Bachar and Jessica Sutta – swiftly became the most empowering girl power movement since the Spice Girls.

Formed by Robin Antin in 1995, PCD began as a burlesque troupe before the choreographer went on the hunt for a new girl group in 2003 with all the sass of her dancers, but the vocals of a Christina Aguilera or Whitney Houston.

By the end of the decade, The Pussycat Dolls sold 54 million records worldwide and their place as one of the most successful groups of all time was sealed.

Next year marks 10 years since the band officially disbanded, and rumours of a reunion are, understandably, rife. Metro.co.uk caught up with Roberts, who after appearances on British institutions I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, Strictly Come Dancing and judging Dancing on Ice, is keen to bring back her dolls, because who isn’t?

‘If it were to happen I would definitely be up for it so fingers crossed,’ she told us. ‘I’m putting out the positive vibes. We’ll see.’

More over, she seemed suspiciously coy when the chances of a new tour or music were put to her.

‘If it were to happen I would definitely be on board,’ she giggled.

Make. It. Happen.

But before we dig out our leather chaps, Roberts has teamed up with BACARDI and FRAME to take over London for a series of dance classes, which we are living for.

‘Do What Moves You is the name of the slogan and the name of the class,’ explained Roberts. ‘It’s a fun, feel-good get your endorphins going dance class. That’s the aim of the class for the next four weeks and it’s a bit of fun; all levels are welcome. It’s a positive vibe and space and for me it’s just fun to dance again.

‘There’s going to be some booty popping! We want to challenge people a bit but we want to you to have a good time so there’s a few little arm movements to give accent to the music.

‘The track is Make It Hot by Major Lazer and Anitta so it’s got a summer feel good spice to it,’ she continued. ‘We’re going to do some fun videos.’

So all that training for Strictly Come Dancing came in handy then?

‘I loved what I learned but it was very challenging and now I’m in a bit more of a space of the feel goods,’ she stressed. ‘My boyfriend [Strictly professional Giovanni Pernice] is always trying to get me to Cha Cha or something but other than that I’m not training to do that kind of stuff.’

Do What Moves You with BACARDI runs Thursdays at FRAME dance studios in Shoreditch until September 19. Sign up here
