The Prospect’s UFC 243 Picks: Nathaniel Wood backs Robert Whittaker to beat Israel Adesanya

I am really looking forward to the action this weekend, as UFC returns to Australia for the second time this year.

UFC 243 features some great bouts across the card, but the highlight for me is undoubtedly the awesome main event between Robert Whittaker and Israel Adesanya.

This should be a really good fight, but I personally think Whittaker will come out with his hand raised in this one.

UFC 243 Main Card

Robert Whittaker vs Israel Adesanya
Al Iaquinta vs Dan Hooker
Tai Tuivasa vs Sergey Spivak
Luke Jumeau vs Dhiego Lima
Justin Tafa vs Yorgan De Castro

‘The Reaper’ has serious heart and I think he will bring his A-game fighting for the UFC middleweight title in front of a home crowd. I love the idea of appearing on a card in Australia myself and hope that one day I can fight down under.

I have a lot of friends who live in Sydney and have spent some time over there myself, so I would jump at the opportunity to compete in front of an Aussie crowd.

Wood’s Fight to Watch

I will also be keeping an eye on the bantamweight bout between Khalid Taha and Bruno Silva this weekend as both men offer something a bit different to the division.

However, I can only see one winner here and think Taha will continue his UFC winning streak. Taha is one of several European athletes on this card, including Swedish fighter Rostem Akman, and I felt that the Scandinavian fighters were outstanding last week in Copenhagen.

They have some amazing athletes and it would be great to see more exciting Scandinavian fighters competing on the biggest platform in MMA.
