The National to host special playbacks of new album 'I Am Easy To Find' in aid of War Child

Events will take place in London and Liverpool

The National have announced that they will present two very special playbacks of their new album with all proceeds going to charity – tickets are on sale now.

To celebrate the upcoming launch of new project ‘I Am Easy To Find’, which comprises their eighth album and an accompanying film made by 20th Century Women director Mike Mills, the band have announced two special playbacks taking place in London and Liverpool with all proceeds going to War Child.

Simultaneously taking place at London’s Screen on the Green and Liverpool’s Everyman Cinema on May 12 at 8pm, the ‘I Am Easy To Find’ event will include a screening of the 24-minute film, followed by a full playback of The National’s new album.

A description of both the film and album on the Everyman Cinema website reads: “The result of an email from Mike Mills to Matt Berninger in 2017 is I Am Easy to Find, a 24 minute film starring Alicia Vikander, and ‘I Am Easy to Find’, a 68 minute album by The National. The former is not the video for the latter; the latter is not the soundtrack to the former. The two projects are, as Mike Mills calls them, ‘Playfully hostile siblings that love to steal from each other’ – they share music and words and DNA and impulses and a vision about what it means to be human in 2019, but don’t necessarily need one another.”

The band are set to release their new album ‘I Am Easy To Find’ on May 17, 2019.

Meanwhile, The National played the majority of the upcoming album in full for the first time last week in Paris.

The US band played a wide selection of songs from the record at Paris’ Cafe de la Danse, providing fans with the chance to hear some of the tracks for the first time ever.

Joined by David Bowie’s former bandmate Gail Ann Dorsey, the performance saw them debut the likes of ‘Oblivions’, ‘Roman Holiday’ and ‘Hey Rosey’.
