The Masked Singer viewers furious over Jonathan Ross blunder: ‘Massive fail!’

When Daisy took to the stage before being unmasked as Kelis, the judges once again were given the chance to guess who was under the costume. Host Joel Dommett asked judges Jonathan, Davina McCall, Donny Osmond and Rita Ora to share their thoughts and the guesses ranged from Fleur East to Alyssa Milano. But it was Jonathan’s guess which outraged viewers.

He said the Daisy could be Natalie Cole, who was the daughter of Nat King Cole, after the singing flower sang one of his song’s Unforgettable.

Fans were shocked by Jonathan’s guess as Natalie passed away in 2015 at the age of 65.

Not only did Jonathan guess the dead celebrity but ITV also used a graphic of the star to show each judge’s guess.

Unsurprisingly, viewers were quick to air their frustration on Twitter.

“And I think especially for people, you know, who are used to everything being based on people knowing who you are, it’s totally a different thing.

“So that’s kind of the fun part I guess.”

Asked by Joel why she signed up the show, Kelis remarked: “Well people have just been telling me my voice was distinct my whole career, you know, so I was like, ‘Let’s see how distance it is.’”

Only Rita had correctly guessed it was Kelis under the Daisy mask.

Next week viewers will find out the identity of two stars as The Masked Singer UK Twitter account shared: “That’s it for tonight. NEXT WEEK two singers will be UNMASKED. Join us Saturday at 7pm on @ITV and @WeAreSTV #MaskedSinger.”

Meanwhile, viewers are convinced they have worked out Michael Ball is performing as Hedgehog.

In a VT shown before their performance, a ball could be seen with the name “Michael” written on it leading fans to believe the singer is under the animal’s costume.

The Masked Singer continues Saturday on ITV at 7pm.
