The Mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau gave us not one, but two belated Christmas presents on Friday by confirming the show’s second series and start date.

In a tweet sent on Friday, the series creator excitedly confirmed that the Disney+ series has been renewed and that it will be back in the autumn.

Yep, ladies and gents, it looks like we’re months away from getting even more Baby Yoda content.

And if that wasn’t enough, Dinsey+ sealed the deal by adding: ‘Jon has spoken.’

Unsurprisingly, fans were delighted by the news, writing on Twitter: ‘Season 1 was everything I wanted and more and THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!!’

Echoing a similar sentiment, another posted: ‘Thank you for literally saving star wars for the fans. This is the way.’

Last month, Jon announced that season two is already filming and shared a picture from behind-the scenes.

The star posted a photo from the set of the forthcoming sequel and wrote alongside a snap of the lead character’s helmet: ‘Greetings from the set of #TheMandalorian season 2.’

Before the show even premiered, Jon revealed that he might jump into the directors chair.

‘We’re working on season two, writing, prepping with the directors and getting ready to direct myself, actually,’ he said.

He added to Entertainment Weekly: ‘I didn’t get a chance the last time around because I was doing Lion King. So I’ll step in for one of them.’

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, Nick Nolte, Julia Jones and Ming-Na Wen and made its debut in November.

Let the countdown to autumn begin!

The Mandalorian is available to stream on Disney+ in the US.
