As well as helming the incredibly successful Marvel sequel Thor: Ragnarok, Taika’s critically acclaimed Jojo Rabbit was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards earlier this year.
Making his first foray into the Star Wars universe, the celebrated New Zealand filmmaker directed the season finale of The Mandalorian, Redemption.
Taika Waititi also voiced Din Djarin’s (played by Pedro Pascal) droid associate IG-11 for the series, and the director teased he won’t rule out returning to the recording studio for now.
Speaking to fans on Instagram Live, Taika confirmed: “I’m not directing any of the episodes of The Mandalorian because I was doing another film, a soccer film with Michael Fassbender.
