Another day, another social media challenge.
Sadly this one’s not as much fun – and far more challenging – than the one where you use household objects to pretend you’re on a plane.
Presenting the Koala Challenge; the next hot trend all the cool fitness types are trying.
The Koala Challenge is a simple concept that’s difficult to execute.
As the name suggests, it seems to have originated in Australia, and involves one person climbing their partner as if they are a koala and their partner is a tree.
The koala has to make their way all around the tree’s body without falling or touching the ground.
So both parties need to be pretty strong – the koala needs to move their way around the body without falling, while the tree can’t buckle under the koala’s weight.
As this challenge is happening in Australia, most of the Koala Challenge videos are filmed on the beach. This is wise as the sand provides a slightly softer surface on which to fall. If you’re going to try this out, we’d recommend doing so at a trampolining centre or on large crash mats.
And truly, be careful if you plan to attempt this particular challenge. You could end up injured, whether from a fall or seriously straining your back.
Like many social media challenges, this one is quite clearly designed for super toned influencers in need of a new way to show off how fit they are.
Us normals can go ahead and practise our strandids instead. No Instagram like is worth throwing your back out.
Rather than doing the Koala Challenge yourself, we’d recommend just enjoying the videos below.
