The Jonathan Ross Show: Rachel Riley reveals what 'rude' things she has learned on show

The Jonathan Ross Show saw Countdown star Rachel Riley arrive on the Jonathan Ross Showsofa to discuss her time on the daytime show.

Speaking to the host she explained how she has enjoyed her time on the show thus far, before speaking about joining the show.

Rachel told Jonathan she was looking for graduate jobs after leaving university while Countdown was looking for a new member of the team.

She explained the show’s application was asking for “50 words and a photo.”

On replacing Carol Vorderman, she wrote in the application: “They are huge shoes to fill – I’m an Essex girl, why not fill them with white stilettos?”

However Jonathan was eager to know why she became interested in joining the show, to which she explained: “I always liked puzzles.

“I did a maths degree, I did four years at Oxford [University].”

She then went on to explain she has also learned a lot from the show – in particular: rude words.

Rachel continued: “I learned a lot of rude words!”

She said they film 15 shows a day, so a lot of rude words inadvertently come up.

But Nick Hewer doesn’t seem to get the innuendoes every time, as Rachel went on to say.

“Nick is 75 now,” she began. “So when he’s talking about ‘growlers’ or when we’re in the finals and we move on to a ‘semi’…

“There are loads of innuendo which go whoosh [over his head].”

Joining Rachel on the show was the winner of Crufts – Dylan the Villain.

While the pair looked like they got on famously, Rachel recently spoke out about how he licked her during recording.

Writing on Twitter, she teased: “I don’t normally like to name drop but I did get licked by this megastar this week!

“Spent a good hour with Dylan the Villain AKA Crufts new regaining champion — he’s gorgeous!.

“We’re on Jonathan Ross tomorrow (Saturday) on ITV at 9.30pm, well worth a watch, twas a very funny record.”(sic)

Rachel and Dylan were also joined by Ralph Fiennes, and Jack Whitehall.

The Jonathan Ross Show airs Saturday at 9.30pm on ITV.
