The Good Place star D’Arcy Carden says season four is the right time for the show to end – and we don’t think we can cope.

Just last year it was announced that the much loved comedy had been renewed for a fourth season, but it looks as though directors had planned to end it there.

Talking about the bad news to Page Six at the ATX TV Festival, the Janet actress revealed her thoughts on calling it quits, and how she agrees it should end.

The 39-year-old told the publication: ‘It’s super sad, but it also feels really right somehow.’

She then went onto compare wrapping the show to a ‘breakup,’ adding: ‘You know it’s not forever. You’re like, “we can end this at a good place.”‘

And we sure hope they do – despite there being copious amounts of crying on set.

‘Everything is very final,’ D’Arcy proclaimed before adding: ‘Kristen [Bell] and I are the criers of the group and everything is like, “it’s our last first table read of the season.”‘

‘Every time a director is done with an episode, it’s not just like, “okay, well, we will probably see you next season or whatever.”’

‘It’s like, “goodbye forever, we will never see you again.”‘

This is all too tragic -they’re not actually going to The Good Place…

Just last week, show creator Mike Schur confirmed the news on Twitter, where he told fans that season four would be the last of the show.

He wrote: ‘After The Good Place was picked up for season two, the writing staff and I began to map out, as best we could, the trajectory of the show.

‘Given the ideas we wanted to explore, and the pace at which we wanted to present those ideas, I began to feel like four seasons – just over 50 episodes – was the right lifespan.’

The writer added: ‘At times over the past few years we’ve been tempted to go beyond four seasons, but mostly because making this show is a rare creatively fulfilling joy.

‘At the end of the day, we don’t want to tread water just because the water is so warm and pleasant. As such, the upcoming fourth season will be our last.’

Mike then went on to thank the network and production team for helping create their ‘work and dedication to a very weird idea.’

He added: ‘We ask the question very frequently, on this show, what do we owe to each other? ‘The answer, for me, is: I owe all of you a whole lot.’
