PlayStation 4 owners anticipating The Division 2’s release next week might want to clear some hard drive space, as the game’s day one update could be a weighty 90GB.

Ubisoft has outlined the space requirements on a new official support page, explaining how even those who have purchased the PS4 physical version can expect a 88-92GB download on 15 March.

The page explains: ‘If you purchased a physical copy of the game, begin installing from the disc. Provided you are online, your console will simultaneously download Title Update 1 while you install it.’

They state the final HDD install size for both physical and digital editions of The Division 2 is 88-92GB, so it sounds like you’re essentially downloading the whole game either way.

Confusing matters though is a previous support page, which states the day one patch is 48-52GB for physical versions on PS4, while the final full size is 88-92GB. GameCentral has reached out to Ubisoft for clarification.

The 48-52GB patch size matches the requirements for Xbox One and PC versions of the game, which would make more sense. Otherwise the PS4 day one update is, for reasons unknown, nearly double the size.

Whether it’s 90GB or 52GB, it’s still a huge day one patch download. The closest in recent memory is perhaps Call Of Duty Black Ops 4, which required a 50GB day one update.

The Division 2 releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on 15 March.
