The Chase’s Mark Labbett has embarked on a social media blocking spree after stating that he’s against a second lockdown.

The quizzer – also known as The Beast – sparked backlash after tweeting the hashtag #SayNoToLockdown which is currently trending in response to another potential national lockdown to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

‘Blocking a lot of people this afternoon,’ Mark announced after receiving criticism.

Politics is all about discussion/argument but questioning my intelligence is pretty counterproductive #SayNoToLockdown.’

Mark’s comments come after Matt Hancock warned the UK is at a ‘tipping point’ and tighter lockdown measures may be needed to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Speaking on Sky News today, the Health Secretary said: ‘The nation faces a tipping point and we have a choice.

‘The choice is everybody follows the rules – or we will have to take more measures.

‘I don’t want to take more measures, more restrictive measures, but unfortunately, if people don’t follow the rules that’s how the virus spreads.’

Mark recently opened up about his incredible five stone weight loss, insisting that he didn’t ‘try’ to slim down.

The Chase star previously discussed his coronavirus symptoms, explaining a series of health concerns pushed him to get fit.

Appearing on Loose Women, he explained there were two weeks where he ‘barely ate’, with his weight eventually dropping to below 23 stone.

‘I’ve got some reserves on me, shall we say, so going a week or two with relatively little food is not a problem,’ he said.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
