The Chase viewers gobsmacked as 'greedy' contestant refuses £30,000 offer

The Chase viewers were left in a state of shock on Wednesday afternoon as contestant Alan snubbed an eye-watering £30,000 offer.

Host Bradley Walsh welcomed four new contestants to the studio and was eager to see them get through to the final with some money in-hand.

Darragh Ennis aka The Menace was in the hot seat trying to prevent the hopefuls from going home with the cash prize.

Enyioma, Kerry, Laura and Alan all took it in turns to take on the cash builder and later went head-to-head with The Menace in an intense round of general knowledge questions.

Alan was the first contestant to try his luck on the ITV quiz show.

He managed to score an impressive five answers correctly in his cash builder round, earning £5,000.

The player then entered the head-to-head round and attempted to move the money down to the bottom of a seven-step board and into the team’s prize fun without being caught by the Menace.

Alan was given three options by the Chaser at the start of the head-to-head round.

He could either play for the £5,000 earned in the cash builder and start three steps down the board, requiring five correct answers to reach home, accept a higher offer of £30,000 and start two steps down or accept a lower offer of £500 and start four steps down.

Viewers at home were left gobsmacked as the contestant refused to take the high offer.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Who’s the anus who said that 30K is not enough?”

Another added: “£30.000 not high enough??? Please tell me ya caught that greedy f****r @bones_giles!”
