The Big Bang Theory season 12 spoilers: First-look at star’s return – not everyone's happy

The Big Bang Theory has revealed an exclusive shot of HR assistant Janine Davis’ (played by Regina King) return to the show and things look set to be as dramatic as ever with the character.

The image shows Janine in a confrontation with Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) and has teased a potential conflict over Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons).

The show’s Instagram account posted the photo alongside the caption: “Mark your calendars. @iamreginaking returns as Janine Davis on #BigBangTheory 4/18/19!”

Fans were sent into meltdown at the news with one fan commenting: “Oh yeah I love when she’s on because she’s so hilarious!”

Another added: “My goodness!!!!! I am so excited to see that episode!”

She will return in The Inspiration Deprivation episode of the CBS show and will see Amy fret over how women’s place in the science world would change if she won the Nobel Prize.

Previously, Janine has provided fans with comedic scenes including when she confronts Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) about sending her an inappropriate drunk message.

The episode she returns in airs on April 18 on CBS.

Fans are looking forward to her return and also to the series finale as they wait to find out what happens to their favourite characters.

This excitement increased after Penny Hofstadter star Kaley Cuoco teased the series’ “unforgettable” finale.

However, she has also spoken about the “heartbreaking” finale and revealed it will be too much for a live audience to bare.

She told E!News: “We’re actually going to pre-shoot the whole thing, so we’ll have shot it, and then we will have an audience taping.

“That was probably because they knew I’d be crying the entire time.

“So we still want the audience experience. We’re gonna still do the audience, but we will have taped it and shot it beforehand, so if the tears come unexpectedly, then that’s just what’s going to happen, because I guarantee you it’s going to happen.”

Fans have already been advised to not “rule anything out for finale”, so could this mean a fan favourite’s death?

Kaley certainly does not know how it will end, telling PopSugar: “It’s going to be a surprise to all of us. Everyone is struggling to let go of this show, even the writers.

“I know that we’re all going to freak out reading that final episode. I hope that whatever loose ends they felt [they] needed to tie up will be tied up.

“I’m sure they want to see where all these characters end up, and I think the writers don’t want to leave some sort of ending.

“They want these characters to live on in people’s minds and hearts, so it’s going to have to be written in a very special way.”

CBS announced the hour-long series finale will be released May 16.

The UK release date will be announced by E4 at a later date.

The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays on CBS and in the UK on E4.
