Tenacious D star Kyle Gass shows off dramatic weight loss transformation after dedicating himself to fitness

It appears Tenacious D star Kyle Gass is on a new health kick that’s already wielded great results.

On Thursday, the musician, singer and actor took to his Instagram page and shared a couple of photo that showcase his impressive weight loss transformation.

Set to the group’s song To Be The Best, the images include two full-body looks of Gass, before and after.

On the left, the 63-year-old rocker looks straight at the camera as he poses shirtless with his hands against his body, while the one on the right shows Gass flexing his arms, all while flaunting his slimmer physique.

The Walnut Creek, California native added the hashtags, ‘#progressnotperfection #nothingtastesasgoodasthinfeels #dzercise,’ to the caption.

There’s no shortage of fans who decided to share their support and offer him high praise for sticking to his commitment.

‘Health #1 in this life … perfection is a farce. Well done, my friend,’ one Instagram user wrote, while another added, ‘Way to go.’

‘Well, this is pretty stunning,’ one person wrote, which summed up what a lot of people were thinking, while another fan shared how his weight loss was ‘Inspirational’

Of course, there were others who had to throw in a bit of comedy to their post, with one guy sharing, ‘Is that Jason Mamoa?’ and another user asked, ‘How many c**k pushups do you do daily?’

‘Hell Yes!!! So stoked to see the [GOAT] keeping it healthy,’ one man posted, ‘KG is a national treasure and America needs The D now more than ever!!’

Along with his new health mission, Gass has also been hard at work banging out new music with his Tenacious D bandmate Jack Black, which includes recording a rock version of Britney Spears’ hit song …Baby One More Time for Kung Fu Panda 4.

Just last year, Black revealed that of all his film and TV credits, he’s most proud of his work with Gass.

‘In a weird way, it might be Tenacious D In The Pick Of Destiny because that’s the only movie that I wrote,’ he told People of his 2006 music comedy film. ‘So, that one is actually my real baby. Maybe it’s not the best, but it is my proudest.’

Gass first appeared on-screen in a 7up Gold commercial (1988) at the age of 28, and then made his film debut two years later in psychological horror-thriller film Brain Dead (1990).

He went on to make a number of guest starring appearances in such hit sitcoms as Seinfeld (1996) and Friends (2003), while mounting up the credits in such films as The Cable Guy (1996), Almost Famous (2000), Saving Silverman (2001), Shallow Hal (2001), Elf (2003) and Kung Fu Panda (2008).

But his trademark role came in the HBO series Tenacious D (1997-2000) that features the fictional accounts of the real-life duo of the same name, which comprised Gass and Black, who he met in the 1990s after he joined Tim Robbins’ The Actors’ Gang in the early 80s.

Since the start the guys have been all about the heavy rock ‘n’ roll power chords and lyrics that talk about sex, Satan, and why they are ‘the greatest band on Earth.’

Episodes are typically bookended by scenes of the band performing at an open mic night, with the events in between often serving as inspiration for a song performed at the end.

According to Gass, HBO offered Tenacious D a deal to make ten episodes, but in doing so, they would have to relinquish their role as executive producers.

Ultimately, Gass and Black decided to make a movie instead of giving HBO creative control of Tenacious D, and they made Tenacious D In The Pick Of Destiny (2006).
