Taylor Swift has called Scooter Braun buying her back catalogue as ‘my worst case scenario’.

The singer reacted to the news that Braun had purchased Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Label Group – Taylor’s former label – as part of a $300million (£240million) deal.

Big Machine owns the singer’s back catalogue from her 2006 debut album to Reputation which was released in 2017.

On her Tumblr page, Taylor reacted to the announcement, and criticised Borchetta saying: ‘This is what happens when you sign a deal at fifteen to someone for whom the term “loyalty” is clearly just a contractual concept.’

She also accused Braun of ‘incessant bullying’, adding: ‘Any time Scott Borchetta has heard the words “Scooter Braun” escape my lips, it was when I was either crying or trying not to.

‘He knew what he was doing; they both did. Controlling a woman who didn’t want to be associated with them. In perpetuity. That means forever.’

Taylor also referenced the highly-publicised falling-out between her, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West after Kanye’s video for Famous featured a naked likeness of Taylor.

She called the video ‘revenge porn…which strips my body naked’, adding: ‘Now Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy.

‘Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.’

The Wildest Dreams singer, who is now signed to Universal Music Group, ended on a more uplifting note, saying she hoped that young aspiring artists ‘read this and learn about how to better protect themselves in a negotiation. You deserve to own the art you make.’

The star also described her upcoming album Lover as ‘healthier’ than her past work.

Scooter Braun’s publicist has been contacted for comment.
