Susan Boyle, 58, revisited the famous moment she took to the stage on Britain’s Got Talent to perform I Dreamed A Dream during her stint on America’s Got Talent: The Champions this year. The singer performed her audition song with a fresh twist during the quarterfinals on the show. Reminiscing about what the iconic Les Misérables song means to her, Susan admitted she relates to its message. Susan explained to People magazine: “It’s something I can relate to,
“It’s about a lady who, more or less, was left on her own with nothing.
“Lots was taken away from her and she had to rebuild her life again.”
The Scottish star added: “I started off having a hard time and things have become brighter and better.”
After Susan sang, judge Simon Cowell gushed about how her performance gave him “goosebumps”.
He said on the programme: “Every time she comes on, particularly that song I Dreamed a Dream, I get goosebumps,
“I remember that moment like it was yesterday. I remember her walking out with a microphone and thinking, ‘Oh please God, don’t be a singer. She’s not going to be a singer, not a singer,’ and the rest followed,” the TV personality admitted in reference to Susan’s April 2009 audition.
Simon continued: “She’s the most amazing person in real life, just amazing.”
In spite of the success brought to her singing career from her memorable first audition, the star said she wished she didn’t get “dressed in the dark”.
For her audition, Susan wore a beige-coloured dress which included lace inserts and a gold ribbon.
She completed her look with black tights and white shoes.
Speaking on America’s Got Talent this week, she said: “If I was doing my audition all over again, I would make sure I wasn’t dressed in the dark for a start.
“I mean white shoes with black tights, you don’t do that do you?”
She added: “If I was to dress myself I’d probably have a gown on again, probably a green one. And I’d have nice shoes, with my hair done up nice.”
Susan went on to say: “What was I like? I was like a brush on legs!”
The musician just missed out on winning the show to dance group Diversity.
However, her debut album I Dreamed A Dream achieved incredible success and sold almost 14 million copies worldwide.
