Sub Mbappe scores brilliant hat-trick for PSG – after delighting group of mascots with high fives

KYLIAN MBAPPE made the mascots’ day before kick-off – and then ruined Simon Mignolet’s with a second-half hat-trick.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward started tonight’s Champions League clash at Club Brugge on the bench.

And as he came in from the warm-up beforehand, he brilliantly high fived the kids sitting patiently in the tunnel ready to walk out with the stars.

But Mbappe was in no mood for games after replacing Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting with 52 minutes on the clock.

The French giants already led 1-0 through Mauro Icardi at the break against the side that shocked Real Madrid in the previous round of matches.

The superstar ensured there would be no repeat and made it three wins from three for PSG.

Nine minutes after coming on, the World Cup winner headed past ex-Liverpool stopper Mignolet to become the youngest player to reach 15 Champions League goals.

At the tender age of 20 years and 306 days, he broke the record set by a certain Lionel Messi more than a decade ago.

Ballon d’Or nominee Mbappe then set up Icardi for his second two minutes later and bagged a further two goals within four minutes before the end to seal a 5-0 rout.

His second came from an Angel Di Maria cross and he rounded off a fine team move to complete his hat-trick.

It was the first treble by a substitute in the competition since October 2008, when Joseba Llorente came on and bagged three for Villarreal against Aalborg.

PSG need just a point from their remaining three group games – including home ties with Brugge and Galatasaray to secure their place in the knockout stages.

They are already five points clear of Real Madrid and seven ahead of tonight’s Belgian opponents as Thomas Tuchel looks to turn their domestic dominance into success in Europe.
