It’s been a rough few weeks for Stacey Dooley amid the controversy surrounding her romance with Kevin Clifton. But, the Strictly Come Dancing star reveals she’s grateful to have had the support of her best girl pals.

Stacey, 32, has faced backlash in recent weeks for ending her relationship with longtime boyfriend Sam Tucknott last month, and appearing to have struck up a romance with her Strictly partner Kevin shortly after.

Over the past couple of weeks, Stacey’s managed to escape the drama with a trip to Portugal and has counted on her friends for support.

Alongside an Instagram photo of her hugging one of her friends in the middle of a desert, Stacey said: ‘My girls have been magic. I love you all.’

It comes after Stacey’s ex-boyfriend Sam lashed out at her romance with Kevin publicly for the first time in an interview.

The personal trainer called Kevin, 36, a ‘rat’ and a ‘snake’ and claims he saw flirty text messages between the Strictly partners on Stacey’s phone.

Revealing how he allegedly confronted Kevin in a Facetime phone call, Sam told the Mail On Sunday: ‘He went white. I just stuck it on him, “You’re an absolute rat. How you conducted yourself. Just a slippery, slimy snake”.

‘He didn’t say a word. He looked petrified. He looked so shocked.’

Appearing to confirm their romance, Stacey posted a photo of her and Kevin hugging on her Instagram after Sam’s interview emerged.

The following day, the couple reportedly ‘spent the night’ together after Stacey was seen leaving a hotel in Peterborough with a huge smile on her face.

Kevin is said to have made his way out of the hotel shortly after.

Neither have directly addressed the controversy publicly but Stacey alluded to it in a tweet, which read: ‘Anyone with any adult life experience knows there are 2 sides to every story.

‘I haven’t got the time or energy to correct some of the utter nonsense I’ve read on here. Re Sam, I loved him v much and only wish him happiness and success going forward.’
