Strictly’s Bruno Tonioli replaced as judge by Alfonso Ribeiro as he misses the show for a third time

STRICTLY Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli is to miss a live show for the third year in a row and will be replaced by Alfonso Ribeiro.

The 63-year-old ballroom expert will not be present for the Strictly live show next Saturday, October 19, due to prior work commitments in America on Dancing With The Stars.

The Italian judge missed his first ever Strictly show in October 2017, before skipping a week last October too.

While no one stood in for Bruno in 2017, last year’s series saw The Fresh Prince of Bel Air actor Alfonso take his seat for a week.

The 48-year-old won series 19 of the US version of Strictly, called Dancing With The Stars, and was a big hit with viewers during his guest stint last year.

A rep for the BBC confirmed to The Sun Online that the celebs would face “returning guest judge Alfonso Ribeiro” on next Saturday’s show, describing the panel as an “awesome foursome”.

Last year, a source close to the show said of Alfonso’s appearance: “Everyone is excited to have Alfonso on the judging panel. He will bring great energy to the show.”

Alfonso will join head judge Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and new judge Motsi Mabuse next Saturday.

Meanwhile Bruno will jet across the pond to judge on Dancing With The Stars alongside former Strictly head judge, Len Goodman, and Carrie Ann Inaba.

The show is currently airing its 28th season, with stars including Dawson’s Creek actor James Van Der Beek and Khloe Kardashian’s ex-husband Lamar Odom taking part.

So far on Strictly, two celebrities have been voted off during the current 17th season, with Olympic rower James Cracknell being the first star to be voted off.

He was followed at the weekend by Anneka Rice, who lost out in a dance off to former England goalkeeper David James.

Meanwhile at the other end of the table, former Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher topped the leaderboard after receiving the first 10s of the series, one of which was from Bruno.

Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday, October 12th at 6.40pm on BBC One
