Strictly Come Dancing: Celebrity Big Brother star to join line-up in 'strategic' signing?

Michelle, 50, could be setting her sights on the Strictly Come Dancing Glitterball Trophy after a stint on Celebrity Big Brother in 2015.

The former Seduction band member is best known for her role as a judge on American reality show Ru Paul’s Drag Race.

With the hit Netflix show recently filming in London for a British edition set to air on BBCiPlayer later this year, Michelle could be crossing the pond once more to appear in the line-up of the dance show.

Earlier this year, Michelle also performed in West End musical Everyone’s Talking About Jamie as Miss Hedge so with some slight experience on stage, could Michelle be a hot contender to become Strictly champion?

With the rumour mill going into overdrive, a source told The Sun: “This is a very strategic signing from the BBC as Michelle has a huge following, especially in the gay community.

“Since she is know as the fiery judge on Drag Race producers are pre-empting her clapping back at any of the harsh comments from the Strictly panel, which will make great TV,” the source continued.

Could reality show judge Michelle be waltzing onto the dance floor to have the tables turned as she faces the judges critiques?

The West End star reached the final of Celebrity Big Brother in 2015, coming fifth, so it’s clear Michelle is popular with the British public.

Fans of the show and Michelle have taken to Twitter to comment on the potential signing, with one posting: “I did NOT know Michelle Visage was on the rumours list for #Strictly this year. I would LOVE to see her sashay to Elstraaaay.”

Another added: “Can you imagine Michelle vs Craig?! Yes. Please.”

The source continued: “She’s also come from a bit of a musical dance background, so it hopeful this could open new doors.”

Again, fans will have to see if the rumours are true but they’ve already been given some news about the upcoming series as Dame Darcey Bussell’s replacement was announced last week.

Most Mabuse, 38, will be steeping into the 50-year-olds shoes to give her critique on this year’s batch of contestants.

One of the names heavily stapled to the role before Motsi’s appointment was professional Anton Du Beke, 53, and the Strictly stalwart has since taken to Twitter to congratulate the new judge.

“Welcome to the family Motsi! You’re going to have a great time. Can’t wait to get started! x,” Anton posted on the micro-blogging site.

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 returns later this year on BBC One.
