Strictly Come Dancing 2019: Darcey Bussell replacement revealed as Motsi Mabuse

Darcey announced she had stepped down from the Strictly Come Dancing panel back in April this year.

Now, 38-year-old Motsi has been revealed as her replacement to sit alongside Bruno Tonioli, Craig Revel Horwood and Shirley Ballas on the judging panel for the BBC show.

Motsi is no stranger to a judging role having already established herself as a judge on Germany’s version of Strictly, Let’s Dance since 2011.

The former German Latin Champion and South African Champion was also a professional dancer on the programme from 2007 before joining the panel.

Motsi has said of her new position: “I am absolutely overjoyed to be joining the Strictly judging panel.

“I have so much respect and admiration for the other three judges and hope to add my own bit of sparkle to the show. I can’t wait to get started!”

Meanwhile, Charlotte Moore, Director of BBC Content declared: “Motsi is a brilliant addition to the show. She is a wonderful dancer in her own right and already has years of experience as a judge under her belt.

“We’re all looking forward to welcoming her to the Strictly family.”

“I am incredibly excited that Motsi Mabuse is joining the show,” added Sarah James, Executive Producer of Strictly. “Motsi’s natural warmth, energy and passion for dance makes her the perfect addition to our esteemed judging panel.”

Motsi also shared her happy news to her Instagram followers today.
