Netflix viewers have been glued to their screens following the release of Stranger Things season four, volume two.

The music of the series has been a major talking point, from the blow-up success of Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) in volume one to an epic scene in volume two featuring iconic Metallica hit Master Of Puppets.

Stranger Things is well known for its eighties soundtrack jam-packed full of popular hits that perfectly capture the time in which the show is set.

But did you know that this season’s villain has his own musical past?

Here’s everything you need to know about Vecna actor Jamie Campbell Bower’s band and solo career:

What was Jamie Campbell Bower’s band called?

Jamie Campbell Bower was previously a member of London punk band Counterfeit.

Formed in 2015, Bower was the lead singer of the band joined by guitarist Tristan Marmont, bassist Roland Johnson and drummer James Craig.

They released their debut album Together We Are Stronger in 2017 before embarking on a headline tour across the UK, Europe, and North America.

Counterfeit appeared on the main stage of Reading and Leeds festival in 2019 and they’ve also toured with the likes of While She Sleeps, Don Broco, and Palaye Royale.

The band split in 2020, but Bower assured fans that this would not be the end of his musical ventures.

You can listen to the band’s discography now on Spotify.

Does he still play music?

Following Counterfeit’s breakup, Bower launched his solo career.

Under the name Jamie Bower, he released a number of tracks including the popular single Paralysed.

Speaking to Rock Sound about the song, he said: ‘If I’m being truthful about how I feel when I listen to some of my own stuff, Paralysed with the fuzziness and the cello player.

‘That song, every time I’ve listened to it and I remember the feeling of it on the day [when I made it], for me, it translates through the microphone and into my ears.

‘When I’m listening to that now I can hear myself, I can feel myself. That’s what we look for in any music.’

He also performed a number of songs on the Sweeney Todd soundtrack, also starring in the film adaptation as Anthony Hope.
