Stranger Things star David Harbour had a good laugh with girlfriend Lily Allen this Christmas, jokingly gifting her with so-called Cartier jewellery and boxes of money to poke fun at the vain culture of social media.
Showing his sense of humour, David, 44, gifted Lily, 34, with 10 boxes filled with wads of 10, 20 and 50 dollar bills, as well as pounds and euros.
‘Look at all this money, yeah my favourite… I love you,’ Lily said sarcastically while opening box after box and feeling through all the cash.
After coming across a two-dollar bill, the pop star quipped: ‘Look at that, I’ve never seen a two-dollar, that’s not real. I love orange [£10 notes], it goes so well with all of my green.’
The Smile singer was then presented with a box that had ‘Cartier’ handwritten on it.
Inside, Lily found a gold ring which she told her man who seemed highly amused by his prank: ‘I love them, thank you so much. Not an engagement ring, slightly disappointing, next year.
‘Nothing funny about money baby, I’m so excited about all my Benjamins.’
Taking a wide shot of her extravagant ‘gifts’, Lily joked: ‘It’s looking good so far, big haul,’ in reference to YouTube and social media culture of influencers posting haul videos to show off their Christmas presents.
She added: ‘Seriously baby this is crazy. I’m overwhelmed,’ before joking: ‘The best things in life are free.’
Loving the prank, one of Lily’s followers commented: ‘Hahaha my Queen lizzies! It’s my favorite color! Haha love you two together. You two can have a laugh when others are so serious. Happy Christmas! [sic].’
Another entertained follower said: ‘Ha ha love this!!! Taking the p*** out of everyone.’
One of Lily’s fans admitted they ‘watched it twice’ clearly finding it hilarious, while another said: ‘You two are so cute together, I can’t take it.’
Putting two and two together, one chimed in: ‘They’re literally taking the p*** outta these celebrities like cardi b who do it.’
Last week, Cardi B gifted her husband Offset $500,000 (£375,000) in cash for his 28th birthday hours before he spent much of it at a strip club.
Lily and David have been dating since October and she appears to be spending Christmas with him in New York.
