Stormzy and EE make history with breathtaking 5G performance

Taking to a floating stage on the River Thames, the rapper, who is dating Maya Jama, belted out some of his biggest hits to celebrate EE rolling out 5G in some of the nation’s biggest cities.

With a backdrop of the capital’s ionic Tower Bridge, Stormzy, whose real name is Michael Omari, wowed members of the public along the south embankment of the river as well an aptly named gigaboat of VIP guests including Ashley James and Clara Amfo.

Slipping into a skimpy playsuit, Ashley oozed sex appeal as she partied the night away.

Sweeping her blonde locks behind her head, the Pussycat Dolls songstress wowed as she proudly posed for pics.

Ashley completed her look by rocking heeled nude boots.

Meanwhile, BBC regular Clara opted for a baby blue playsuit and white heels combo.

After wrapping up his set Stormzy boomed: “Big up EE, thank you for letting me launch your 5G network in the UK.

“Tonight was sick, I’m honoured to be a part of history.”

Meanwhile, Marc Allera, CEO of BT’s Consumer business, said: “We wanted to mark the arrival of the UK’s first 5G network with something spectacular.

“Tonight, we made history, not only by becoming the first network to launch 5G in the UK – but also using 5G to live stream this event to thousands of fans across the UK.

“Stormzy lit up the Thames and his fans’ faces with the energy, passion and charisma that he always brings to his live shows.”

EE’s 5G will allow its customers to browse the internet and use date faster than ever before.

The phone giant expects customers to experience an increase in speeds of around 100-150Mbps even in the busiest areas.

In less populated areas, some customers will be able to enjoy up to one gigabit-per-second.

In comparison, the fastest speed possible when EE launched 4G in 2012 was just 50Mbps.
